HEP MOTORSPORTS: Oakland SX recap

Round 4 of the 2019 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series brought us a huge crowd and a exciting night of racing. The weekend started Friday afternoon for media day, where all three riders gave interviews with various local new stations. The night continued at East Bay Motorsports for the weekly autograph signing, the event featured other factory teams and was a huge success with hundreds of happy fans leaving with a poster and a signature from their favorite riders. For H.E.P. Motorsports the night was filled with ups and downs, one major highlight from this past weekend was Alex Ray jumping out to a top 5 start. The team also debuted a new gear collection by Thor MX known as the Hallman inspired bt the companies founder and its steep tradition in the sport.

Kyle Chisholm #11 – It was another step in the right direction for the seasoned veteran. After coming off a nasty crash, Chisholm had been rehabbing his wrist all week in hopes to getting it back to 100%. With the wrist not quite healed up, Kyle still decided to give it a go. In his heat race Kyle didn’t get the start he wanted and was outside the top ten, as the race progressed, he was able to maneuver his way into a main event transfer position; finishing in 8th. In the early parts of the main event Kyle circled as high as 13th place, before a bad crash in the whoops that set him back to last. Throughout the rest of the 20 minute main event, Kyle caught and passed riders up to 16th position, where he ultimately finished. As the season continues, expect Kyle to continue to get better as his wrist gets healthy.

Alex Ray #62 – It was another strong performance for the #62, who raced very well throughout the night. He is continuing to look better each week. In his heat race we saw A-Ray get out to his best start of the season inside the top 5 but as the race progressed, he made a few costly decisions that dropped back to 9th where he finished the race. In the main event things didn’t get better for him; not being able to match his Heat 1 start, Alex was well outside the top half off the field, he finished the night in 17th place. With the starts, starting to come along look for him to continue to improve and be in the main event each weekend.

Adam Enticknap #97 – It was a rough night for the Seven Duece-Duece whose day stated out very well. Posting fast lap times in qualifiers Enticknap looked primed for his first main event. In this Heat race Adam got out to a decent start inside the top 15. As the race progressed Adam raced very competitively moving up the field into 11th place, unfortunately with time expiring and the gap widening he missed the main by two positions. In the LCQ the night didn’t get any better; after a rough start, well outside the top half off the field Enticknap had his work cut out for him. In the next four minutes we saw the #97 bike race very aggressively climbing more than half the field before time expired, finishing in 7th place and missing the night show.

San Diego marks the last stop in California before the series heads to the east coast. The teams short term goals are fore Kyle Chisholm and Alex Ray to make their way closer to a top 10 finish and Adam Enticknap to make his first main event of the season.
