Galfer USA takes pride in the amount of time we spend working with customers, riders, and athletes. We spend a lot of this time at events around the country, meeting the people who use our products and getting their feedback.
After all of this, we like to compile all of it and answer some of YOUR frequently asked questions.

WILL MY BRAKE PADS WORK WITH A GALFER USA ROTOR?
When it comes to brake pads, our mantra is that any good quality pad will still work with a Galfer USA rotor. If you choose to go with a pad other than a Galfer USA brake pad, as long as it’s of a good quality you should not see any major decreases in braking efficiency or any damage or issues.
However, the design and metals that go into every Galfer USA product are made to work together. You will get the best braking performance out of a Galfer USA brake rotor if you pair it with a Galfer USA pad. The metals we use with our pads and rotors are made to work in harmony, giving you the highest possible braking performance. In addition to better performance, running a Galfer USA brake pad with a Galfer USA rotor will give you a warranty of 6 months — even if you race.
It’s important to note that we do not warranty rotors used with pads not made by Galfer USA.

WHY DOES IT SOUND LIKE MY FLOATING ROTORS ARE RATTLING?
We get this question from some of our Harley Davidson riders who are using a Galfer USA floating Wave rotor for the first time, especially after switching from solid mount stock rotors.
Galfer USA floating rotors are designed to have play between the carrier and the blade. This “wiggle room” allows your rotor to stay centered in your caliper even when braking aggressively or suddenly. This helps drastically decrease your chances of warping rotors on your bigger bikes or heavy Baggers.
The sound that you hear is the carrier moving against the buttons, and is no cause for alarm.

WHICH BRAKE PAD COMPOUND IS BEST?
This is a tricky answer! The best brake compound is dependent upon how you ride. We have several brake compounds that were designed for different uses. If you want more specifics on the differences between our brake compounds, check out our brake pad compound article by clicking here.

CAN I ROTATE MY BANJOS?
Galfer USA brake lines are made in the USA. When we make them we have them set up where the banjos can rotate a little if necessary. It’s important to note that there is a proper way to do this, check out our info on rotating banjos here.

WILL YOUR BRAKE PADS HAVE DUST?
With all brake pads there will be some dust. When it comes to brake dust, you will trade dust for performance. If your brake pad produces zero dust, you may not be getting the braking efficiency you need.
Galfer USA brake pads come in several compound options. Our brake pad with the least amount of dust would be our Semi-Metallic compound. This is a softer compound that is closely comparable to an OEM or stock brake pad. While it produces less dust, it is not as aggressive as some of our other brake pads.
